This service consists in obtaining and certifying documents for Dominicans and foreigners in government institutions, universities and consulates in the Dominican Republic. Upon your request, these documents are translated from Spanish to English or French in case the documents will be presented abroad.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

1. Copy of Cédula (Dominican ID card) or complete passport (if foreigner) of the title holder.

2. Power of Attorney authorizing eLexPersona to legalize the certified document at the corresponding consulate in the Dominican Republic. This will only apply if this document will be presented abroad.

3. For General Immigration Certificate: Copy of Residence Card or residence deposit receipt.

4. For Civil Status Record: Original Civil Status Record that will be certified.

5. For University Record: Letter authorizing eLexPersona to request the transcript on your behalf. The letter must include university name, career, Student ID number, and graduation year.
Expenses related to document legalizations in your country’s consulate in the Dominican Republic will vary depending on how many documents will be legalized and the fees charged per consulate. eLexPersona.com has covered this fee, however if the expenses exceed the established amount, these will be charged separately.

1. How long does it take for a document to be certified?

The time to certify a document varies depending on the document and the institutions it has to be certified by. Civil Status Records are certified in approximately 7 business days, a Divorce Judgment in 7 business days, the General Immigration Department Certificate in 8 business days, the Certificate of Good Standing in 15 business days and the University Record approximately 15 business days, which will vary depending on each institution.

2. Are these certified documents valid in other countries other than the Dominican Republic?
Yes. If your document will be presented abroad, in addition to ordinary legalizations, the document will be legalized in the Ministry of Foreign Relations in addition to the Apostille legalization by the Hague Convention and in the Consulate of the country where the document will be presented. The document will also be translated from Spanish to English or French upon your request and the translation will then be legalized at the Attorney General's Office.

3. In which institutions will my document be certified?
Civil Status Records will be legalized in the Central Electoral Board, Divorce Judgments in the corresponding Court, University Records in corresponding universities, Immigration Certificates in the General Immigration Department and Certificates of Good Standing in the Attorney General’s Office.

4. What languages can the documents be translated to?
You have the option to translate the document from Spanish to English or Spanish to French. If you would like to have the document translated to any of these languages just let the attorney working on your case know since it is included in the Document Certification Service.
