1. How long does it take for a Civil Status Record to be issued?

Obtaining a Civil Status Record in Santo Domingo takes approximately 2 days once the record has been located. If the record is located in a different province, obtaining the record will take longer since our attorneys will have to travel to the Civil Registry Office where the record is located.

2. If the Civil Status Record will be presented abroad, does it require additional legalizations?
If the Civil Status Record will be presented abroad, the document needs to be legalized by various institutions in order to reinforce the document’s validity. The record will be legalized by the Central Electoral Board, Ministry of Foreign Relations in addition to the Apostille legalization by the Hague Convention, and the consulate of the country where the document will be presented.

If you would like the records to be translated, these will have to be additionally legalized in the Attorney General's Office.
